Robotic Inspection System

CMP Automation designs and manufactures automatic testing equipment for the automotive industry. This Testing Cell was created to verify the correct assembly and function of a Touch Sensor assembly. A five axis robot was fitted with an offset probe and programmed to follow the 3D profile of the Touch Sensor. This ensured proper assembly of the Sensor into the mounting frame. Multiple pressure points were tested at various locations to verify the function of the Touch Sensor. An optional Vision System was installed onto the Robot arm to perform further inspections. The vision camera ensured all the tapes, foams and rivets had been applied to the assembly in the correct locations.
